EXPERIENCE
Chattanooga Tourist Attraction
Everything 2/25/12-Present
Tour Guide: I was hired as a tour guide. As a tour guide, I lead a tour lasting one hour and 15-20 minutes a mile round trip through Tourist Attraction. Along the way I present the history of Tourist Attraction and provide facts about the geology of the cave. Not only do I lead day time tours, I also am trained to lead our special after hours reservation only Lantern tours. For lantern tours, I lead groups through the cave by lantern light, providing extra historical and geological facts not covered by the day time tours. I have been a certified tour guide trainer and tour quality grader for three years.

Cashier/Cafe: In the gift shops, I stock and price, and ring up purchases. I am also trained for making various concession foods in the Cavern Cafe.

Outside: In the parking lot I direct traffic, park buses and help groups make their way into the building to get checked in. Outside work also includes prepping to open for the day by blowing leaves, pulling trash, and ensuring the tables and chairs are set up if we have groups eating on our upstairs decks.

Maintenance: When scheduled for maintenance, it is my job to make sure the cave is ready for guests. I arrive before we open for the day and walk through the cave to make sure that all lights are functioning, pathways are clear of trash and debris and to pull all trash from trashcans in the cave. I make sure all of the mics and tour recordings function. Throughout the day I will be around if any lights in the cave or building need to be fixed, the feminine napkin dispenser needs refills, or whatever general grunt work needs to get done.

Loader: As the loader I keep up with the attendance for all departments. I am responsible for calling in workers if we are busy or if anyone calls in sick. The loader is also in charge of tours. I load tours into the cave and watch the flow of tours in the cave via video surveillance. If there are problems in the cave, I am the first contact and direct workers to solve the problems.

Front Desk: I sell tickets to Tourist Attraction as well as discounted package tickets to other area attractions, and occasionally answering phones. I answer questions about Tourist Attraction operations as well as questions about tourism and other attractions in the Chattanooga area. During the summer, front desk also includes functioning essentially as a bouncer, watching the line at the front door to ensure customers enter in an orderly fashion.

Zip Stream Ticket Sales: At the zipstream I am responsible for answering questions, weighing customers in and checking their footwear to ensure they meet the qualifications for the zipstream. I also stock and sell souvenirs.

Special Events Coordinator Assistant: I assist at weddings and any special events including Romance at Tourist Attraction, Foto at the Tourist Attraction, Battle Below the Tourist Attraction Amateur BBQ contest, Ice Cream Days, Football at the Tourist Attraction, Haunted Cavern, Christmas Underground and Discovery Day.

In addition to the various positions I work I am also secretary of the Safety Team. This job has had a major influence on my life. I never knew how much I could love a waterfall until I started giving tours. I have fallen so hard for the beauty and history of the cave.

Red Bank Baptist Church
Nursery Worker 6/1/07-7/31/12
I got to play with kids ages 6 months to 4 years. I fed kids, changed diapers, knocked down towers, used funny voices, sang, chased kids on the playground. Whatever it took to make the environment fun, I would do it. I also got to clean toys every Sunday. The ones that couldn't go in the industrial dishwasher I wiped down by hand with clorox wipes. This job made me a patient person, I can clean bathroom related messes without barfing, and crying kids and annoying sounds no longer phase me.

Rivermont Presbyterian
Summer 2011
I worked for the Mothers Bible Study on Mondays and I was on-call for Parents' Night Out. I worked with children ages 3-5, depending on what groups needed extra help.

Chester Frost Ranger Station
Seasonal Clerk April 4 2011- July 31, 2011
I registered campers for campsites, took cash and credit card payments, answered phones, sold ice, and dispatched park rangers to handle various situations around camp. Once I had to send the rangers to what was reported as a knife fight.

Wilkins Research
Temp 2/28-3/15/11
I worked as a secretary for a week and got so upset when I realized it was only a temp job that they offered me a job doing phone surveys. We did medical surveys, political calls, etc. I got great reviews on my phone skills, but quit because I could only take so many people yelling at me for the unsolicited phone calls.

UTC Senior Show Poster/Mailer
UTC Art Department March 2010
I worked with another student, Lauren to create a poster and mailer for our senior show. We also got to work with UTC's print service, Ikon.
